One small pad, from niche to mainstream
A small scouring pad is telling a remarkable story of Chinese manufacturing upgrading. Driven by consumption upgrading, tightening environmental policy and manufacturing modernization, the industry is accelerating from a traditional cleaning consumable toward functional, smart and green products. Between 2021 and 2025 China's scouring-pad market grew from about RMB 4.8 billion to RMB 6.2 billion, a 6.6% CAGR, and is expected to pass RMB 8.5 billion by 2030.
Investment rising, new-material clusters forming
In November 2025 a grinding-material production base project was signed in Heshan, Guangdong with planned investment of RMB 300 million. The project owner is a private high-tech enterprise specializing in industrial scouring pads and abrasive products that helped draft China's industrial scouring-pad production standard in 2016 and was recognized as a national high-tech enterprise in 2017. Once phase one is in production it is expected to generate around RMB 200 million in annual output value.
Product innovation: one cloth, many uses
In the consumer segment innovation is equally lively. A new-generation double-sided microfibre pad uses a dense weave on one side and a honeycomb weave on the other, switching across 12 cleaning scenarios from kitchen counters and sinks to cookware and microwave interiors. Test data shows a single pad retains 98% of its cleaning power after 15 consecutive uses, more than three times as durable as an ordinary cloth.
A global view: Chinese pads going worldwide
Chinese scouring pads perform strongly abroad. Industry researchers forecast the global market at USD 571 million in 2025, rising to USD 651 million by 2032. As the global cleaning market keeps growing, Chinese manufacturers are winning a bigger voice internationally through technology and quality upgrades.
What this means for buyers
For buyers, an upward industry means two things: supply is shifting from price competition to quality and compliance, with REACH and RoHS becoming entry barriers for export; and product iteration is speeding up, so selection should weigh a supplier's R&D capability and supply stability more heavily. Fisfu will keep investing in new-product development and full-process quality control to offer customers a long-term competitive supply solution.
